They also offer longer office opening hours than others. Which means their staff are on hand when it’s convenient for you. Nitin and his team take the time to help you understand the survey process, and are known for being very generous with their time post-survey too. They do also provide a fast turnaround for reports thanks to the technology they use.
Value for money is a big strength. So, if you’re looking for great customer service for a reasonable fee, River Crest Surveyors is a good option for you. In fact, they’re the only surveyors in this blog that focus just on providing residential surveys, with no extra services like party wall or commercial surveys.
Ely Langley Grieg
Next up, Ely Langley Greig. They are based in Chandlers Ford, and are firm friends of ours here at Harrison Clarke. While the company is a partnership between Chris Clark and Des Ely, if you commission them to survey your new home, you’ll find this is Chris’s bag. Chris has been part of Ely Langley Greig for almost 35 years, so there’s very little he doesn’t know about buildings – especially those in Southampton.

Trinity Rose
Finally, we can’t miss Trinity Rose. Set up by Richard Kirby (an exceptional building surveyor) in partnership with the leadership of Charters (now owned by one of the largest investors in estate agents in the country.). Trinity Rose has grown into the respected company it is now through the trinity (excuse the pun) or Richard’s surveying excellence. Theleadership team’s strong track record, and their strong links to one of the largest agents in Southampton.
So what sets them apart? They offer a non-standard report format. This lets them to streamline their reports with a huge library of stock phrases. Which can be adapted to each property. So when they identify a certain construction, whether the survey is completed by the experienced Richard or a more junior colleague, clients can benefit from the combined experience within the firm.
While their reports are detailed, we have heard that their quality assurance process can slow down delivery. So if you’ve just had your offer accepted and have the time to wait a minute for a comprehensive report. Trinity Rose might be a good option for you.
Of course, there are some other options to consider when choosing a surveyor. National firms or other comparison websites that might be able to find you the lowest–priced surveyor in the city. After all, each of these does have a place in the market, and might be the best options for some people. But we’ve found that many want to know that the surveyor they choose will be of the highest quality, or able to offer the best customer service.
