The work

We have recently grown our building consultancy team and are looking to diversify the services we are able to offer, by looking for a full time business rates adviser to join our friendly and sociable team. Your role will entail providing advice to a range of occupiers and investors to assess suitability of business rates and, where appropriate, challenge these.

The majority of properties will be based around the South of England, though there is increasing scope for further travel.

Our office is located in Southampton, though work (when not inspecting properties) can be split between our office and at home, to suit the applicant.

Your responsibilities

• You will be working on a number of different instructions, such as reviewing the suitability of Rateable Values and providing advice on how to mitigate exposure to rates, providing a reliable, consistent and quality service.
• You will be building relationships with a range of key professionals including solicitors, commercial agents, businesses, and building your own personal contact base in the local area.
• You will produce detailed advice that reflect Harrison Clarke’s commitment to our clients to be client focused and providing them with the best possible service and advice.
• You will have an opportunity to enhance your professional profile by filming informational videos on your areas of expertise, to assist with marketing and the wider body of professional knowledge.

Requirements

• Attention to detail is a must, as is ability to see instructions in a wider commercial context.
• Excellent people skills.
• Hardworking and driven with a positive work ethic.
• Ability to independently manage and organise your own workload.
• Hold a full UK driving licence with access to personal transport.

Desirable

• Recent experience in providing business rates, either as a private sector consultant or within the public sector.
• Chartered surveyor status (MRICS or FRICS)
